Monsters
The 30 monsters are tiered 1–3 and grouped into zones. v0.4 ships the Codex Quarry zone with 4 monsters; subsequent waves add Parliament Hall (Tier 3 raid), Sentry Temple, and the Cron Tunnels.
Codex Quarry (Tier 1–2)
Free-Disk Roach
Tier 1 · HP 80 · ATK 5 · DEF 2 · Drops: Scrap Inode, Crumb of Swap
The /tmp pantry is infested.
The weakest mob in the Quarry. Multiplies if ignored; auto-spawns when /tmp falls below 10% disk. Respawns on every tab reload.
Flaky Test Gremlin
Tier 1 · HP 110 · ATK 7 · DEF 3 · Drops: Heisenbug Shard, Reroll Token
30% chance the fight “didn’t count.”
Mirror-gremlin family. Has a 30% chance to invalidate the entire engagement on hit (returns to pre-fight state). Fight it fast or with a Reroll Token to skip the bad roll.
Permission Denied Goblin
Tier 1 · HP 140 · ATK 9 · DEF 4 · Drops: chmod 644 Scroll, sudo Stub
Blocks loot until the auth check.
Path-ownership golem. Drops the chmod 644 Scroll which clears 1 stack of “Permission Denied” debuffs on your bank/inventory tabs.
Mr. Sparks’s Parakeet (Tier 2 mini-boss)
HP 1,200 · ATK 12 · DEF 8 · Drops: Honey Token ×5–12, 429 Coin ×1
Perched on Mr. Sparks’s shoulder. Repeats “ship it” on a 2-second loop. Cannot be reasoned with; can only be completed.
Mid-boss in the Codex Quarry. Lower damage (6 per hit) but fast (2-second cadence) and rewarding (Honey Token ×5–12 on kill). Quest giver: Ship It (Tier 2, +800 Codex Whispering XP, +200 Token Mining XP, unlocks HATCH MODE).
Rate Limit Hydra
Tier 2 · HP 2,400 · ATK 28 · DEF 14 · Drops: Retry-After Header, 429 Coin
Three heads, all returning 429. Charming.
Mid-game boss of the Quarry. Three heads — each on a separate cooldown. Kill all three within their shared cooldown window, or they respawn. First spawns the player Retry-After Header (a 1-slot cooldown reducer) on drop.
